Production update - February 25th

Dear backers,

Today I wanted to give you a quick update regarding production. As you may be aware, China has been affected by the recent Corona Virus outbreak, which has led to huge manufacturing problems across the country. 

Since we heard news of the outbreak, we have been in regular communication with our manufacturer about how the virus will impact production and we wanted to get a concrete picture of the situation before updating backers. In our last update, we said we were expecting production to continue after Chinese New Year and were expecting pledges to be on boats at the end of February or early March.

This week the manufacturer has confirmed that their work force is only just returning to work and at a reduced capacity. Unfortunately this means they won't be hitting the expected completion date and they aren't currently unable to provide us with a definitive completion date.

Like you we are disappointed that we can't get the TerrainCrate out to you as we originally hoped. However, we have to keep the situation in perspective, and be understanding of what is going on in China, and the huge disruption the current crisis is causing. I'm sure you will join us in hoping the situation gets sorted out as soon as possible, and wish our Chinese partners a speedy and safe return to  normal.

I am hopeful we'll have more updates soon and we'll keep backers posted with the latest details.

Production and Shipping Update - December 19th

All aboard TerrainSpotters,

Today we wanted to give you a production and shipping update. During the Kickstarter we funded dozens of great pieces of plastic terrain – from ruined furniture to spooky trees and everything in between. Whether you’re a DnD player or prefer post-apocalyptic skirmish games and historical warfare, the TerrainCrate range has your tabletop covered.

Since we received the production samples we were really impressed with the quality of the pieces and the dedication the factory was showing to maintain quality. However, they have recently let us know that the production process is taking far longer than they expected due to the large amount of individual items, tooling and assembly.

What does this mean for backers? Well, the sad news is that we won’t be able to ship in late January, as originally predicted during the campaign. The slightly better news is that the delay is only a matter of weeks and TerrainCrate 2 will start shipping in early April.

The factory is super close to finishing production but won’t be able to complete everything before it closes between January 15th until February 10th for Chinese New Year – so we lose almost an entire month of manufacturing. Once the factory is back in action though, the remaining production should only take a couple of weeks to complete and pledges will be on boats late February/early March.

TerrainCrate 2 - production update

All aboard Terrainspotters,

Apologies that it's been a while but we've been waiting to receive the test samples from the factory producing TerrainCrate 2... and they finally came in this week. In terms of production, we're on target for our timeline and will be going back with feedback from the samples.

We've taken pictures of everything we received, so you can see how things are shaping up. These were quick snaps in our little light box at work, so you could get an idea of what the pieces look like. Oh, and if you're wondering where the Survivor's Stronghold is, the samples for that can be seen here.

Now, don't worry if you see little mistakes here and there on the test samples. We've been through these pieces with a fine tooth comb and have highlighted any issues (like bent plastic, soft details, thin sections or warped areas) that the factory will fix before final production. Also, the final product won't have such a shiny finish. We'll have another update once we receive the second set of samples, which will have our amends on. 

We've tried to organise the pictures into sensible sets but please remember that some Crates share elements, so they might crop up under different headings. Anyway, enough waffling, let's take a look at the test samples.

Production Update - September 3rd

Sorry, it's been a little quiet on the updates for a while but, rest assured, we've been busy in the background on production.

As of now, here's the current production schedule:

• prototypes were approved for mould making

• mould making is currently in progress

• we'll start to receive plastic test shots at the end of September, which we'll then check and send off amendments, where required

• assuming there aren't loads of amendments, production will then begin and that will take a couple of months

Currently we're aiming to get finished products on a boat before Christmas, so we avoid any Chinese New Year shenanigans! 

Our next update will be towards the end of September/beginning of October when we start receive the test shots - which should be very exciting!
